How To Play
This is a step by step guide that will show you how to play the game. In addition to this simple guide, be sure to check out the
full
game tutorial which is a little bit more in depth.
Step 1 -- Enlist
In order to play the game, you will need to "enlist" or sign up. Signing up is free and we will never send you any spam. All you need to do is make up a name that you want to be known by in the game
and enter it along with your email address on our
sign up page. As soon as you sign up, the system will send you an email
message to confirm your email address.
You must provide a valid email address -- the message that is sent to you contains a link you must click on to activate your account.
You have already completed this step by signing up for the game.
Step 2 -- Activate Your Account
As soon as you filled out the sign up form, the system sent you a confirmation email message. That message contains a link that you will need to click on
to prove that you got the email message. Clicking that link will activate your account which will allow you to play the game.
If you did not receive your confirmation email, then go to
the
My Account Page and click the button that says "re-send activation email" and the system will send you a new message. If you still do not get it, please contact us at
support@fleetcombat.com.
Step 3 -- Assemble Your Fleet
In order to do battle, you will first need a fleet. As a new recruit, you are given 1,000 "command points" (CP). Command Points are used to
add ships to your fleet. You do this by
browsing the list of available ships and clicking the "Requisition Ship" button next to the ship you want to add to your fleet.
You can view your fleet and make changes on the
My Fleet Page. As a new recruit, you should stick to the "interplanetary era" for a
while until you build up more CP so that you can afford the more expensive ships of the later eras.
Step 4 -- Enter a Battle
Battles are going on all the time in the game. You may join an existing battle, or you may create one of your own. You may battle one or
more other players, or you may battle computer controlled opponents (AI). To join an existing battle, go to the
Join a Game Page. Any games
that are currently looking for new players will be listed here. Sometimes, there may not be any games open and looking for players. In that case, you may want to start your own game.
The easiest way to do this is to challenge another player. Go to the
List Of Players. Notice that some players have a yellow "crossed swords" icon next to their name. These are players that you can "challenge" to a duel. Click on that yellow icon
and a game will be created with you against that player. You can challenge the AI by clicking the crossed swords icon next to the players named "AI Crusher" or "AI Violator".
Step 5 -- Initial Orders
Once you are in a game, you can view the status of that game on the
My Games Page. That page will tell you if there is something
you need to do. The first thing you need to do is set your "initial orders". Your fleet is about to enter battle and needs to know what your starting orders are.
Go to the
My Games Page and click on the name of the game you have joined or created. That will take you to a page showing all the details of this game
and who else is playing. Notice the button that says "Set Initial Orders" next to your name -- Click it. On this screen, you can assign ships to the battle from your fleet. You may want to assign
all of your ships or only some of them. You can also set what direction you want to approach the battle from and what range to engage at. When you are done here, click "Execute Orders" to have your fleet prepare for battle.
Step 6 -- Start the Game
On the game detail page, you may see a "Start Game" button. If you do, click it and the game will start. If you do not, then it means the game is waiting on other players before it can start. You will recieve an email message
when the game has started or is ready to start. This may take a couple of days for other players to join the game and set their initial orders. Once you recieve notification that the game has started, return to the game detail page to play the game!
Step 7 -- Play the Game!
When you get a notice that a game you are in has started, go to the
My Games Page and click on the name of the game. Now on the game detail page there will be a button that says
"Launch Game Client". Click that button and you will be taken into the game. Once inside the game, you will see your ships and those of your enemy. You can now issue orders to the ships in your fleet and continute the battle. Have fun, and
let us know what you think in the forum.
